SOFTWARE FOR GLASS

Think 1986….

Sarah Ferguson married Prince Andrew at Westminster Abbey. The world’s worst nuclear disaster at Chernobyl. The “hand of god” goal that helped Argentina defeat England in the World Cup quarter finals. And Clear Thinking Software Ltd was founded.

Back in those days, most correspondence was done on a typewriter and mobile phones were just hitting the market. The majority of businesses then didn’t even have a fax machine, let alone a computer. However, within 20 years, the technology market has grown phenomenally and nearly ever business in the UK now has at least one computer.

Since their inception, Clear Thinking has been one of the leading suppliers of glass software in the UK. From humble beginnings, started from the back bedroom in February 1986, Malcolm Searle, founder and Managing Director and his team have built a business and reputation for great service, honesty and integrity. Malcolm says, ‘We like to think that we’ve learnt a lot over the last 25 years and enjoy passing on some of that experience to our customers where we can, both in the form of constantly improving our software and our drive to help our customers reduce costs in their businesses, whether that’s by saving money on glass waste, speeding up workflow in the factory by better sequencing and handling, and therefore reducing manpower, or by reducing keyboard entry time with EDI projects for importing units or ordering single toughened – so reducing the need of too many office staff.’

Malcolm continues, ‘Over the years, we’ve spent considerable time and effort on R&D and learning the theoretical aspects of production which we then have put into practice with our revolutionary software, so we’ve always felt the desire to contribute to our customers businesses when we get the opportunity. Often new software is necessary, but it’s not the whole story, frequently we are a great catalyst for helping to change outdated methods, question existing practices and show how things can be done differently – luckily we have a large network of existing customers who are happy to let us show off our successes and allow prospective customers to visit, which is a real bonus. We’re now in the proud position of counting some of the top independent glass companies within our customer base.’
